Heritage Federal Credit Union offers Visa Gift Cards for members.
These Visa gift cards make the perfect gift for special occasions such as weddings, graduations, birthdays, and sales incentive programs. Visa gift cards can be purchased at any of our branch locations.
Please contact your branch in advance for large gift card orders. For balance inquiries and additional information about the Visa gift card purchased you may contact Visa Card Customer Service at (800) 827-6227 or online.
Designs on gift cards are not customized. They are available between $10 and $1,000. A $1.75 card fee is assessed at the time of purchase, and payment made by cash or transfer from another credit union account.
EMV VISA Cards are Here!
HFCU is now issuing new and replacement VISA credit and debit cards that have been updated with an EMV chip, the most innovative technology in combating fraud and protecting our members! EMV cards, or smart cards, utilize a computer chip embedded in the card to generate a one-time use security code. This is a small, metallic chip you’ll see on the left side of your VISA debit or credit cards. When you use your card to make purchases at a business, the chip communicates with the terminal, sending this one-time code exclusive to that purchase. The code cannot be used again, making it nearly impossible for your cardholder data to be stolen and counterfeited.
Members with a Heritage Federal Credit Union MyMoney Card are automatically enrolled.
Verified by Visa lets you add an additional level of password protection to online transactions with participating merchants. Simply activate your card for this service in one of two ways:

Pay online the easier way with Visa Checkout and your Heritage Federal Credit Union Visa card.
Visa Checkout works with your existing debit or credit cards across all your devices, no matter where you are. So, shopping stays convenient and paying online gets even easier.
It is an automated service designed to notify you when there is activity outside of typical spending patterns on your Heritage Federal Credit Union Visa credit card and MyMoney card. Having an automated service enables the credit union to contact you within moments of the transaction, receive your confirmation, and reduce the risk of the credit union authorizing additional transactions that may be fraudulent. You may be contacted for spending outside of normal patterns in terms of frequency, amounts, regional location, etc.
Falcon will contact you using the phone number Heritage Federal Credit Union has on file for you. Please make sure we have your most recent home and cell phone number in our database. We will not contact you via a work number. Please also indicate which number is the best number to reach you to verify your transactions.
During the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week. Falcon will contact you to confirm transactions that are suspicious. The time zone of the call is based on where you reside.
If you receive a call from our automated service (Visa Fraud Prevention Services) you will be prompted to verify your identity. We will not ask for your card number or PIN number.
The automated system shares the five most recent transactions, giving the transaction amount, transaction date and time, and the merchant name or merchant category code, then asks whether you authorized these transactions.
If you do not recognize a transaction, your card will be blocked. You will need to contact HFCU to request a new card to be ordered. You may also speak with a member of the Card Services department team for further investigation as necessary.
If you are able to verify the transaction(s), the automated system will close the case and you may continue to use your card as normal.
If Falcon is unable to reach you, it will leave a message for you to return the call. The message will identify Heritage Federal Credit Union and provide you with a toll-free number and a case ID. When you call back, you will be asked for the Case ID or full card number. The service is available for your return call 24/7.
We have placed a temporary block on your Visa card to prevent additional transactions until we are able to confirm the activity with you. It is important that we hear from you as soon as possible so we can determine the appropriate next steps to protect you from fraudulent use of your account.
Once you call the toll-free number (855) 217-1753 and confirm whether or not you made the purchase we will either remove the temporary block or block the card permanently. If your card is blocked permanently due to fraudulent activity you will need to contact HFCU to request a new card.
If you receive a call from Falcon, and do not return the call, your card will remain blocked until you contact Heritage Federal Credit Union at 812-253-6928, during normal business hours to request that the card be unblocked. Until that time your card could be blocked until you return the call to validate the transaction.
In an effort to enhance security, your new Heritage Federal Credit Union card now includes chip technology. The embedded chip on your card improves fraud protection when you make purchases at chip-activated terminals. It also provides global acceptance.
You will receive a new chip card when your current Heritage Federal card expires, if your card is lost or stolen, or if there is the potential of a fraud due to a breach in security with a merchant.
You can use your old Heritage Federal card until it is replaced with an EMV card. At that point you must activate and begin using your EMV card. Your EMV card still provides all the same features and benefits you currently receive, in addition to enhanced security and global acceptance.
There are no additional fees to use your new card.
The biggest benefit of EMV is the reduction in card fraud resulting from counterfeit cards. EMV also standardizes payment processes with the rest of the world. EMV technology supports enhanced cardholder verification methods and, unlike magnetic stripe cards.
You can use your card anywhere that accepts Visa Debit or Credit .
Every time you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and help reduce in-store fraud.
All Visa cards offer protection from unauthorized use of your card or account information. Visa chip technology offers another layer of security when used at a chip-activated terminal. While Visa chip technology generated a one-time use code that’s virtually impossible to counterfeit, the account information may still be subject to compromise. Notify Heritage Federal Credit Union immediately of any unauthorized use and know you are protected with by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy.
In most cases, you’ll sign for credit purchases and either sign or enter your PIN for debit purchases – just like you do today. You may not be required to do either for certain types of transactions involving relatively small purchase amounts.
Heritage Federal develops rules to authorize transactions The transaction is authorized either real-time or batch. For a real-time authorization, transactions proceed as they do today in the U.S. with magnetic stripe cards.
Yes. If your card is lost or stolen, you are covered by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy. This means you are protected against unauthorized use.
More of the places you like to shop are transitioning to chip-activated terminals every day. The checkout process is only slightly different than usual, requiring you to insert your card rather than swipe. If you are unsure if a merchant is chip-ready, first, swipe your card like you do today. If a chip-activated terminal is available, you will be prompted to insert the chip end of your debit card into the terminal with the chip facing up. Leave your card in the terminal and follow the prompts on screen.
While your card is in the chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip creates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud. If you remove your card too soon, you transaction will be canceled.
Yes. If a merchant is not yet chip-activated, simply swipe your card and enter your PIN. Or select CREDIT and sign for your purchase.
Some merchants may have installed chip terminals, but haven’t’ activated them yet. In these cases, simply swipe your card to pay.
Yes. You can use your chip card at the ATM just as you always have. ATMs will eventually be upgraded to have chip readers as well, but this is not commonplace yet.
For your convenience, your card number has not changed. And you can still use the same PIN with your new card. Your card will have a new expiration date, so be sure to update your information with billers that charge your card regularly.
Yes. You can count on the same levels of benefits you always have.
As a current Heritage Federal Credit Union cardholder, you will automatically receive a new chip card when your current card expires. If you don’t want to wait until your expiration date, we will gladly assist you with a new card for a small fee.
