What is Google (Android) Pay?

Google Pay is a simple, secure Mobile payment system that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to transmit payment information between your phone and select payment terminals at stores that support it and in apps. With Google Pay, you can make payments in stores or in apps with a few simple taps of your device.


How do I pay with Google Pay?

Google Pay allows you to make simple payments without even opening the Google Pay app. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Unlock your phone
  2. Hold the back of the phone to the contactless payment terminal
  3. If prompted, choose “Credit”

How can I get Google Pay on my device?

Google Pay is preloaded on some Google devices. If your Google device does not already come preloaded with Google Pay, visit the Google Play store and download the Google Pay app. Keep in mind that your Google device must have a KitKat 4/4 or higher with NFC to use Google Pay.


Is there a charge for Google Pay use?

While there is no charge to use Google Pay, additional data or messaging charges may apply with your wireless service provider.

Can I add all of my HFCU credit cards to Google Pay?

Heritage Federal Visa credit cards and debit cards can be added to Google Pay.


How can I make may HFCU card my default card?

When you make your Heritage Federal card the first card that you add to Google Pay, it becomes your default card automatically. You can also make your HFCU card your default card by accessing the Google Pay app, click on your HFCU card, and select “Set as Default Card.” Or, you can simply drag your HFCU card to the top of the wallet in the “default” spot.


Will the card image in Google Pay match my physical card?

No. In most cases the card image in Google Pay will not match your physical card. You will see an image of a card with our HFCU logo on it as a symbol of your card.


Will I still receive the same rewards and benefits of my HFCU card when I pay using Google Pay?

Yes! When using your HFCU card with Google Pay, you maintain the same rewards and benefits features that are applicable to your HFCU card.


Why am I being asked to call HFCU to verify my card?

When enrolling your card, it may require extra verification, as potentially required by the provider.  When this occurs, you will need to contact HFCU for the final verification to add your card.  Call 812-253-6928 for assistance.
