This has been a difficult time for many, but together as a community, we can overcome it. From time to time, we need to lean on our community for the help we need. Heritage Federal Credit Union embodies the “People Helping People” slogan, and this is another way that we can continue to reinforce that ideal.
We are inspiring hope by paying $1,000 toward an HFCU loan1 for three lucky members!
David K. Milligan, CEO stated, “There were so many stories of our members that showed there is a great need for a hand up in our community. We are pleased to be able to help in this way and inspire some hope into the lives of these members.”
Heritage Federal Credit Union’s ICU Day Contest ran from October 16th – October 22nd. Members submitted an entry form on the website that asked the type of loan held and the questions, “How would $1,000 toward your loan help you?” and “Have you been economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic?” Qualifying loans included mortgages, home equity and improvement loans, auto and recreational vehicle loans, personal loans, and personal credit cards.
And the winners are...
Jennifer Burton is a single mom that worked two jobs before the pandemic, and recently lost one of them due to changes resulting from the pandemic. Jennifer says that having $1,000 toward her loan will help her afford some extra things her family needs now.
Enzio Compton, Jr. was pulled from a job in the medical field due to a high risk condition and compromised immune system. Meanwhile, his fiancé’s car was totaled in an accident by someone that didn’t have insurance. He used some wedding money that was saved up to get her a car so that she could get to work. His plans of returning to his work in the medical field to cover the expenses did not pan out, due to physician orders related to avoiding exposure to the pandemic. $1,000 would help pay down more of the balance on the car and help them plan for the wedding.
Zachary Watson is a motivational speaker catering to education and entertainer and also a new father. While his wife is able to work, he has taken on the role of full-time dad as mass gatherings and school assemblies are restricted since the pandemic began. He says being able to knock off $1,000 from their mortgage would be a blessing.
1. Qualifying loans include Mortgages, Home Equity and Improvement Loans, Auto & Recreational Loans, Personal Loans, and Personal Credit Cards.
2. HFCU will pay $1,000 toward loan payments up to 60 days out. Any remaining money will be applied to the principle balance of the loan.
A QUALIFIED HFCU LOAN IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
Three (3) HFCU members will receive $1,000 each toward a qualifying HFCU loan payment(s). Payments will be applied to late fees, then interest, then principal. The payment can extend the due date up to 60 days. Any remaining money will be applied to the principal balance.
ICU Day Giveaway (the "Contest") is open to legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry with a HFCU loan that has a principal balance greater than $1,000. Employees of Heritage Federal Credit Union and members of the immediate family of any such employee are not eligible to participate and win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, children, and any other person residing at the same household whether or not related.
The credit union will issue a 1099-MISC for the value of any loan payment awarded to a recipient. Each recipient is solely responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes related to the loan payment and paying any expenses associated with the loan payment, which are not specifically provided for in the official rules.
The Contest is sponsored by Heritage Federal Credit Union, located at 8266 Bell Oaks Dr., Newburgh, Indiana 47630.

The Contest begins on October 16, 2020 at 12:00 PM CST and ends on October 22, 2020 at 11:59 PM CST (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified. Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest using any of the following methods:

Selection of Loan Payment Recipients
On October 23, 2020, the Sponsor will select potential recipients of loan payments from among all eligible entries received. The odds of being selected is dependent on the number of entries received.
The potential recipient will be notified by email or telephone within five (5) days of the end of the contest. If the potential recipient cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt to contact him/her, the Sponsor may select an alternate potential recipient in his/her place from the remaining non-winning, eligible entries. Each potential recipient (parent/legal guardian if a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to complete, sign and submit a Declaration of Compliance within five (5) days of the date notice is emailed or attempted phone call is made, in order to claim his/her loan payment. If a potential recipient cannot be contacted or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period, potential recipient forfeits prize. If the potential recipient is at least 18 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, his/her parent or legal guardian, will be required to sign the Declaration of Compliance on the potential recipients behalf and fulfill any other requirements imposed on recipient set forth herein. Potential recipients must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and being chosen is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential recipient is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable $1,000 to an alternate recipient choosing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only three (3) alternate drawings will be held, after which the prize will remain un-awarded. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the Contest.
In the event the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney's fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
