Q: Will my account number and / or member id be hidden or masked to protect my account information on my member statement?
A: Yes. Going forward with the September statements (the statements that members receive in October) member id’s and member account numbers will be masked except for the last four digits. “X”s will proceed the last four digits. If a member has a low member id number (lower than 4 digits) then “X”s will appear in front of their actual member id. The statements included are: Regular Statements, Kirby Statements and Visa Statements. After the data system upgrade, Large Font Statements will also be included. Masking account numbers and member id’s aids in the prevention of fraud and is an additional security feature.
Q: What other Heritage Federal Credit Union member communications will have my account number or member id masked once the data system upgrade occurs?
A: After the data system upgrade is completed, most letters, notices and forms that the credit union produces and sends out to members will have account number and member id information masked (except the last 4 digits). Member receipts that are provided to members at our branches and drive up lanes also will have account number / member id’s masked (except the last 4 digits). Today our ATM receipts have the account number masked, but not the member id. In the future the member id on the ATM receipt will be masked (except the last 4 digits). Remember, not all of the credit union correspondence includes account numbers or member id’s.
Q: Will my Heritage Federal Credit Union loan coupon or payment book have the account number or member id masked?
A: No. Loan coupons and payment books will not have account information or member id information masked. This is so our employees can post your payment accurately.
Q: Will I need to produce proof of identity documentation (such as a driver’s license)?
A: After the Data System Upgrade is completed, Heritage Federal Credit Union may ask a member to submit their driver’s license during their first branch-based transaction immediately following the Data System Upgrade in order to update their member file for security purposes. This will help protect all members from fraud and identity theft.
